Thompson Motor Speedway Park

A Bit of History:

Thompson Speedway first opened on May 26, 1940. When the speedway was less than ten years old, a road course was added to the original speedway that brought an entirely new group of cars and fans as they enjoyed another “first” in Thompson: the country’s first enclosed racecourse. The road course reopened in 2014 and Tony’s was there that year.

General Info, Entry and Camping

GENERAL INFO, ENTRY AND CAMPING:

  • If you wish to tent camp, or stay in your trailer,  there is no charge.  Camping is allowed before each track day. You can typically arrive around 6:00 pm and camp that night, but please check the even specific email for the exact time. There are 4 showers located on the opposite side of the bridge from the pit area.
  • Garage space is available for $25/day/bike.  Garages rental is done directly with the track from this page:  http://www.thompsonspeedway.com/reservations.  You don’t buy the whole garage – just space inside of the building.  Generally there will be about 4 bikes to one garage bay. TTD has nothing to do with garage rental space – please contact the track directly if you have questions.

Electric is only available in the garages – not in the general paddock.  Do NOT run any cords across the parking lot from inside the garages.

  • FOOD – There is a concession stand that is usually open while the track is live.  There is also a full service restaurant on the property.  I would suggest bringing your own fluids (gatorade, water, etc).  In general, we have an organized dinner the night between our 2 day events. See the event specific email for more information.
  • GAS: Regular 93 Pump gas is available at the track using a Credit Card.  Please do not bring any gas cans into the garages, and the track requests all fueling of vehicles occur outside the garages.
  • HOTELS: If you prefer not to camp, here is a link to the Speedway’s “hotel” page
  • QUIET HOURS: We ask that you not run your generator from 10pm-7am.
  • Oh yeah, and TONS OF FUN on a GREAT TRACK
Pit In, Pit Out and No Passing Zones

PIT IN and OUT and PASSING:

  • PIT OUT (getting on the track): When you enter the track, please stay far to the RIGHT… no more than 6 feet from the right edge. After Turn 1, you should still stay on the right half of the track. After Turn 2, you should accelerate and blend into the normal line.
  • PIT IN (coming off the track): Please signal after Turn 8 and stay far right all the way into the pits. (To familiarize yourself with the numbers, Turn 7 is the high speed left hander as you leave the OVAL course.
  • PASSING RULES: The standard passing rule is always in effect. That means you cannot pass on the INSIDE of someone from the TIP IN point to the APEX. We also have 2 NO PASSING ZONES when we run Thompson in the Clockwise direction.
    – no passing from the tip-in point going under the bridge, until you exit the bridge.
    – no passing from the tip-in point going into Turn 7, until after Turn 8.
